Path-Based Distance for Street Map Comparison

چکیده
Comparing two geometric graphs embedded in space is important in the field of transportation network analysis. Given street maps of the same city collected from different sources, researchers often need to know how and where they differ. However, the majority of current graph comparison algorithms are based on structural properties of graphs, such as their degree distribution or their local connectivity properties, and do not consider their spatial embedding. This ignores a key property of road networks since similarity of travel over two road networks is intimately tied to the specific spatial embedding. Likewise, many current algorithms specific to street map comparison either do not provide quality guarantees or focus on spatial embeddings only. Motivated by road network comparison, we propose a new path-based distance measure between two planar geometric graphs that is based on comparing sets of travel paths generated over the graphs. Surprisingly, we are able to show that using paths of bounded link length, we can capture global structural and spatial differences between the graphs. We show how to utilize our distance measure as a local signature in order to identify and visualize portions of high similarity in the maps. And finally, we give an experimental evaluation of our distance measure and its local signature on street map data from Berlin, Germany and Athens, Greece.

To generate parallel contour path for direct production of complicated cavity component, a novel path planning based on Voronoi-based distance map is presented in this paper. Firstly, the grid representation of polygonal slice is produced by hierarchical rasterization using graphics hardware acceleration and divided into Voronoi cells of contour by an exact EDT (Euclidean distance transformatio...
متن کاملA GIS-based comparative study of the analytic hierarchy process, bivariate statistics and frequency ratio methods for landslide susceptibility mapping in part of the Tehran metropolis, Iran
The high hillsides of the Tehran metropolis are prone to landslides due to the climatic conditions and the geological, geomorphologicalcharacteristics of the region. Therefore, it is vitally important that a landslide susceptibility map of the region be prepared. For thispurpose, thematic layers including landslide inventory, lithology, slope, aspect, curvature, distance to stream, distance to ...
متن کاملMeshCloak: A Map-Based Approach for Personalized Location Privacy
Protecting location privacy in mobile services has recently received significant consideration as Location-Based Service (LBS) can reveal user locations to attackers. A problem in the existing cloaking schemes is that location vulnerabilities may be exposed when an attacker exploits a street map in their attacks. While both real and synthetic trajectories are based on real street maps, most of ...
متن کاملALGORITHMS FOR BIOBJECTIVE SHORTEST PATH PROBLEMS IN FUZZY NETWORKS
We consider biobjective shortest path problems in networks with fuzzy arc lengths. Considering the available studies for single objective shortest path problems in fuzzy networks, using a distance function for comparison of fuzzy numbers, we propose three approaches for solving the biobjective prob- lems. The rst and second approaches are extensions of the labeling method to solve the sing...
متن کاملGeneralized Streets Revisited
We consider the problem of a robot inside an unknown polygon that has to nd a path from a starting point s to a target point t. We assume that it is equipped with an on-board vision system through which it can get the visibility map of its surroundings. Furthermore, we assume that the robot is contained in a simple polygon that belongs to the class of generalized streets. We consider three prob...
